Hurray, Food Trucks!

My home town welcomes the food trucks.  Santa Rosa, the county seat and “big town” where I work, the major population center with the city council that whines continuously that nobody comes downtown, drove away the food trucks, ending Munch Monday, one of the most successful events downtown has seen since the Wednesday Night Market, because some restaurants complained.

I want to be fair about this, but one of the businesses that complained has a cart.  A cart! And they yammer about the food trucks taking business.  They could have wheeled their cart down to the parking lot and joined the fun–but I guess that was too much like work.

My home town has invited these gourmet food trucks back for Truckin’ Thursday, which, you have to admit, doesn’t sound alliterative because Thursday starts with a “th.”  But who cares?  A local publishing and software company has opened its parking lot every Thursday to four food trucks—different trucks each week.  The company has put out tables and umbrellas.  It looks like fun, and it’s walking distance from my house!  If only I weren’t somewhere else on Thursday.  Where’s that again?  Oh, right, stupid Santa Rosa that sent the trucks away.

I told Spouse the next week he has a Thursday off he has to go and tell me what he ate so I can live vicariously through him.
